There are several types of echo cardiography (echo)all use sound waves to create
Moving pictures of heart. This is the same technology that allows doctors to see an
Unborn baby inside a pregnant women.
Unlike x rays and some others tests. Echo doesn't involve radiation.
Here we are doing 4 type echo cardio:-
TRANSTHORACIC ECHO CARDIOGRAPHY
2D Echo is the most common type of echocardiogram test. Its painless and non invasive."Non invasive" means that no surgery is done and no instruments are inserted in to our body.
These types of echo involve placing a device called a transducer on chest. The device sends special sound waves, called ultrasound through chest wall to heart. The human ear can't hear ultrasound waves.
As the ultrasound waves bounds off the structures of heart. A computer in the echo machines converts them in to pictures on a screen
TRANS OESOPHAGAL ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY
During the test, the transducer is attached to the end of a flexible tube. The tube is guided down the throat and into esophagus (the passage leading from mouth to stomach). This allows doctors to get more detailed pictures of heart.
DOBUTAMINE STRESS ECHOCARDIOGRAPHY.
Stress echo is done as part of a stress test.
During a stress test
Exercise or take medicine (given by doctor) to make heart work hard and beat fast. Technician will use echo to create pictures of heart before exercise and as soon as finish. Some beat problems such as coronary artery disease are easier to diagnose when the heart is working hard and beating fast.
FOETAL ECHO CARDIOGRAPHY
Foetal echo is used to look at an unborn baby’s heart. A doctor may recommend this test to check a baby for heart problems. When recommended, the test is commonly done at about. 18-22 week of pregnancy. For this test, the transducer is moved over the pregnant women’s belly.
